16 April 2015, Qatar ~ Injaaz Stud’s Vetlana De Faust (Al Saoudi x Svetlana) posted a victory over Al Majh’hoor in the Al Huwaila Cup, one of three Pure Arabian races featured the eight-event card of the evening at the Qatar Racing & Equestrian Club on Thursday, 16 April 2015.The Jassim Al Ghazali trained Vetlana De Faust was ridden to victory by jockey Harry Bentley. Abhar was just out of range at the wire and TM Thunder Struck completed the frame for the run over 1850 metres.

Mohammed Hamad Ali Al Attiya owned and trained Zeer Al Wasimiya (Amer x Wa’ad) broke through the maiden ranks with an impressive victory in the Pure Arabian Maiden Plate. Al Attiya’s four-year-old grey colt was ridden to the win by jockey Salim Golam. Al Taweel finished second behind by 1 1/2 lengths ahead of Tarek Al Mels, 1/2 length behind second in a field of 15 horses.

Abdullah Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber owned and trained Al Mostarsil (Manguier De Piboul x Kesbes De Chaillac) ran on strongly inside the last 100 metres to win the Pure Arabian Handicap for horses rated 50 to 80, for four years olds only. Al Mostarsil was in about fourth position as he rounded the final turn improved gradually. With jockey Tadgh O’Shea riding out hard, the Al Jaber trained Al Mostarsil galloped well to surge past the front-runner to win by a neck from Dr Burn. Bony Des Vialettes finished third while Intizaa came behind for fourth in the field of 13.

H.H Sheikh Mohammed Bin Khalifa Al Thani’s Gidwa (Amer x Djamour Des Forges) was ridden to victory by jockey O’Shea in the Pure Arabian Graduation Plate run over 1600 meters. Samjida finished one and 3/4 length behind in second while Namaah and Bahia Du Barthas finished third and fourth close together respectively in the field of 8 horses.

Thoroughbred races

Khalid Yahya Al Khusaai’s Katja was to win the Thoroughbred Handicap for horses rated 70 to 90 by Harry Bentley.

Mohammed Hassan Ali Abdulmalik owned and Debbie Mountain trained Sunley Pride was ridden by Gerald Avranche to victory in the Thoroughbred Handicap for horses rated 50 to 70.

Lions Park went to victory in the Thoroughbred Graduation Plate under Almotasem Al Balushi.

Ibrahim Saeed Al Malki owned and trained Jumaira Tower with Alberto Sanna up kept at bay the challenge of Azma to win the Thoroughbred handicap for horses rated 65 to 85.

Qatar 15 April racing at Qatar Racing & Equestrian Club saw two Arabian races on the card.

Injaaz Stud’s Falsafah(Af Albahar x NKaa) with Guilliambert up broke through the maiden ranks in his first appearance on the Qatar race track. Al Ghazali trained Falsafah raced up front till the home turn while Jazeerat Al Arab raced in close proximity. The duo fought out the issue stride for stride in the final furlong. However, Falsafah got stronger at the finish to win by a neck in the Pure Arabian Maiden Plate.

H.H Sheikh Mohammed Bin Khalifa Al Thani owned Qaa’ed (Amer x TM La Belle Proper by Burning Sand) was brilliantly ridden by Bentley to victory in the Pure Arabian Handicap for horses rated 60 and below. The Al Ghazali trained Qaa’ed was in fourth position as the field straightened out for the home stretch. Once put into top gear, Qaa’ed stretched away nicely to win by 1 1/4 lengths from Deebal. Ras Al Qimmah and Al Marboush finished third and fourth respectively.

H.H Sheikh Mohammed Bin Khalifa Al Thani owned Wonder Of Qatar won the Al Shahania Cup, a Thoroughbred Handicap for horses rated 70 to 90 ridden by Harry Bentley

Mishal Bin Ali Al Attiya’s Al Hareth scored a fluent victory in the Al Naama Cup, a Local Thoroughbred Conditions race, a second win for Bentley.

A third for jockey Bentley came about winning on Treasure Cay owned by Abdulaziz Mohammed Al Ghanim to win the Thoroughbred Maiden Plate in his debut race.

The Debbie Mountain trained Mister Ryanwith Evert Pheiffer up came with a ground-devouring run in the final furlong to overhaul Nu Form Fire to win by a head in the Thoroughbred Graduation Plate.

Sheikh Ahmed Bin Jassim Bin Thani Al Thani’s Sandy Row (by Street Cry) posted an impressive victory in the Thoroughbred Handicap for horses rated 55 to 75.

Ibrahim Saeed Al Malki owned and trained Victory Laurel was brilliantly ridden by Alberto Sanna to victory in the Thoroughbred Conditions race.
