28 October 2017, GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas – Jon R. Henningsgard’s Uptown Sandy Girl gave no quarter in the filly division of the $20,000 Texas Lone Star Juvenile Stakes on Friday night, 27 October 2017, at Lone Star Park.

Trained by Ken Danyluk and ridden by Francisco Calderon, the 3-yr-old grey filly completed the six furlongs in 1:19.32 over a fast track. The Texas daughter of Burning Sand out of Wiblicca improved her record to 3 wins from 7 starts and the $11,700 winner’s share of the purse boosted her lifetime earnings to $35,300.

Jockey Claderon, when asked if his horse seemed strong enough to finish after leading the way throughout said, “She was great. I felt like she could go on forever.”

RB Gaim Ranger finished a length and three-quarters back in second, while favorite, RB Kinkie Boots dropped back to finish a very distant third by 21 lengths. RB Wicked Rich, Rich Sin, and RB Sand Pearl completed the order of finish.

Uptown Sandy Girl paid $6.20 to win, $4.00 to place and $2.20 to show.

2/5 favorite RB Hot Date chased the pace on the outside finding a comfortable spot just behind the leader going into the turn, staying in the same spot through the stretch run getting up in the final strides to win the $20,000 colt & gelding division of the $20,000 Texas Lone Star Juvenile Stakes for Arabians.

Owned by Rosebrook Farms, LLC and trained by Jerenesto Torrez, the 3-yr-old chestnut colt bred in Florida, also by Burning Sand out of Rich Frynd appeared strong throughout. It was a game finish under a confident ride by jockey Adrian B. Ramos for the ½ length victory.

RB Hot Dat covered the six-furlong distance in 1:21.80. It was his 4th win of 8 career starts. With the $11,100 winner’s share of the purse he increased his lifetime earnings to $35,140.

Big Cork set the pace holding the lead until relinquishing to the winner in the end settling for second 2 ½ lengths in front of third-place finisher Uptown Flying Flynn. Prince William AA, Codys Surprise, Captain Bush, WMA Red Pepper and Highh Shine completed the order of finish.
