UK Final DIAR Prep Race at Newbury Attracts Top Runners

28 June 2017, UK ~ The excitement is building as the Arabian Racing Organisation (ARO) announced the ten declarations received for the Dubai International Arabian Races at Newbury, 30th July International Stakes to be run at Newbury this Thursday, 29 June 2017.

Aghsaan, winner of the ARO Cup Group 3 PA at Newbury, heads the list of contestants, whilst Awzaan and Mith’haf Athbah have both been placed at Group level too.

Trainer Phil Collington is looking for a good run from his horses saying: “It will be good to get Aghsaan back on the grass, as her run on the All Weather was disappointing, but her Newbury form is strong. Mith’haf Athbah is in great form and he has come out of his last race well.”

The last of five Preparatory Races held in the run up to the highlight of the UK Arabian racing season, the Dubai International Arabian Races (DIAR) at Newbury Racecourse will be run on 30 July 2017. For four-year-olds and upwards, the race takes place over the same distance as the race it supports, the Shadwell Dubai International Stakes, Group 1 PA, the feature race of the DIAR meeting.

Gemma Cobb, Arabian Racing Organisation Racing Operations Executive said: “This looks likely to be a strong contest as we have established older horses with solid Group form up against some progressive youngsters such as Naishaan, who beat Aghsaan when they last met at Chelmsford City.

Thanks to the DIAR Preparatory Race Series Bonus Scheme, any of the first three home in this prep race that subsequently win one of the bonus races on DIAR, will receive additional prize money, which is a very welcome incentive.”

The final entry stage for Dubai International Arabian Races will close at 12 noon on Wednesday 19th July, with declarations due on Wednesday 26th July,” she continued.
