Handassa won the IFAHR Trophy (G2) while Ghazwa took the (G1) Malazgirt Trophy

14 September 2015, Instanbul ~ The International IFAHR Trophy (G2) was held at the Istanbul Veliefendi Racecourse on 5 September, the first day of the International Racing Festival. Winning the 2100m race was Handassa (Madjani x Ziva/ Dormane) ridden by François-Xavier Bertras, trained by François Rohaut, and owned by Sh Hamdan Al Maktoum. The finish time for the winner was 2.22.70.

9 Purebred Arabians (3-yr-old+) took part on the polytrack as Dr Mohammed Al Nujaifi’s HURRA (Asad Saif x Hamiya/Al Hasim) came second followed by Ecurie Royales D’Oman’s Djet Taouy (Dahess x Win Taouy/Drug) and Mr. Mehmet Altunbas’ GÜMBÜRGÜMBÜR (Kaizbert x Kalamış Esintisi/Kalamış) that finished fourth. The prize money for the winner was 45,000 Euros.

On 6 September the G1 Malazgirt Trophy was won by Ghazwa ridden well into the finish by Jean-Baptiste Hamel. The 5 year-old Arabian mare (Zawan x Gharnooga) is owned by Mr. Mohammed Al Nujaifi and trained by Damien De Watrigant. Ghazwa won by 3 lengths in a finish time of 1.44.54.

10 Purebred Arabians (3-yr-old) participated in the race which was held on the 1600 m turf track. Mr. Remazan Kaya’s Mouheeb (Mared Al Sahra x Sandytiki/Burning Sand) came second ridden by Omer Kaya, while Royal Cavalry of Oman’s Vulcain Du Clos (Monsieur Al Maury x Jamaa Du Dreuil/Djouras Tu) finished the race in third with jockey David Morisson.AL MOUHANNAD (Nizam x Al Ryme/Kesberoy) was fourth under jockey Thomas Henderson. The prize money for the winner was 65,000 Euro.
