Sunday 29 July, Racing and Entertainment in Store
26 July 2018, UK ~ The Dubai International Arabian Races promises spectacular entertainment both on and off the track when the world’s most prestigious day’s racing dedicated to Purebred Arabians returns to Newbury Racecourse under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum Deputy Ruler of Dubai and UAE Minister of Finance, on Sunday, 29 July 2018.
Prize money of more than £190,000 is on offer for the eight-race program which begins at 2.05pm and has attracted the best of Arabian racehorses from the UK, Europe and the Middle East.
The highlight of the day is the Shadwell Dubai International Stakes, a Group 1PA event for Purebred Arabians four-years-old and over and run over a distance of a mile and a quarter with prize money of £58,000. The international flavor of the event is endorsed by the preparation races which have been staged in France, Italy, Netherlands, Sweden and the UK.
The winner and placed horses in each race have secured the opportunity to chase valuable bonuses should they go on to win either the Shadwell Dubai International Stakes (Gr1 PA), the Shadwell Arabian Stallions Hatta International Stakes (Gr1 PA) for fillies and mares, the DIAR International Stakes (Gr3 PA) or the Rotana Hotels and Resorts Premier Handicap Stakes.
The day is presented by international sports broadcaster, Derek Thompson, and owes much of its inspiration to the family atmosphere enjoyed by racegoers at Jebel Ali Racecourse in Dubai.
Admission is free and there are 1000s of free gifts for those arriving early, plus the chance to win a vast array of valuable prizes including a brand-new car.
