Held at Longchamps race course outside of Paris, the Prix is the the richest turf race in the world and and many of racing’s principal owners, trainers and jockeys, are present and committed to win some of the total prize money of 4,8 M€, + 800.000 €, ($6,5M). Sunday’s Qatar ArabianWorld Cup is worth €700,000 – $949,000
Sponsored for the last five years by Qatar in partnership with France Galop, the French racing organization, the weekend of the Prix has all of the glamor and glitz attending top horse racing in the world…think morning suits and ladies in hats! The English are very present, but also 13 other countries besides the host country are represented in owners, breeders, trainers, and jockeys, namely: Qatar, Germany, Saudi Arabia, England, Czech Republic, Japan, France, Ireland, Italy, Brazil, Dubai, Chechnya, and the USA.
The French PMU (Pari Mutuel Urbain), already a giant in the industry and one of the two main bodies responsible for the regulation of the gambling industry in France,is in talks with the arms of the organizations of other gambling sports to see how to make horse racing a larger part of the betting picture.
