February 11, 2014, Dubai ~ The possible entries for the March 29, 2014, US $250,000 World Cup Day Arabian Race Crown Jewel, the 2,000m Dubai Kahayla Classic have brought in 61 nominations to date. Run under Group 1 status for the first time in 1999, France, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates have put forth their best horses for this opening race event. Among the nominees are the 2013 winner, Al Mamun Manlou, in addition to Mushrae, No Problem Al Maury, AF Sanadek, Fryvolous, and Djainka Des Forges. 

 

Al Mamun Manlou is owned by Sheikh Joaan Bin Hamad Al Thani and trained by Jean Francois Bernard. The son of Munjiz is nominated to defend his 2013 Championship. Mushrae by Munjiz has all the credentials including the highest rating of the field at 126. In October 2013, he won the €700,000 ($960,000) Qatar Arabian World Cup (Gr 1) ridden by Christophe Soumillon. Mushrae is a homebred for Abu Dhabi’s Sheikh Mansoor bin Zayed al Nayhan and is in training with Jean-Pierre Totain. No Problem Al Maury by Dormane was sold to Sheikh Joaan Bin Hamad Al Thani in the October Saint Cloud Arqana Sale for  €240,000; AF Sanadek (Burning Sand),is rated 113and is owned by Khalid Khalifa Al Nabooda and trained by Eric Lemartinel; Fryvolous  won this race in 2009 and is a veteran of 30 races with winnings over €282,0000.00. Djainka Des Forges by Kerbella, owned by HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Khalifa Al Thani and trained by Julian Smart won the December Gr 2 Qatar Derby.

The star of the day is the 2014 US$10m Dubai World Cup sponsored by Emirates Airline. Nominations represent a unique line-up of international stars that includes the current winners of the Breeder’s Cup Classic, the Breeder’s Cup Turf and Irish 2000 Guineas, the Japan Cup, the Epsom Derby, the Hong Kong Cup, the Durban July victor and a previous Melbourne Cup winner.

Breeder’s Cup Classic star Mucho Macho Man, Breeder’s Cup Turf winner, Magician, Japan Cup Dirt winner, Belshazzar, Epsom Derby hero, Ruler of the World, Hong Kong Cup victor, Akeed Mofeed, Heavy Metal the winner of the Durban July and former Melbourne Cup winner, Dunaden are among 341 nominations for the world’s richest race.

The 19th renewal of the Meydan Racecourse showpiece will be held on Saturday March 29, 2014 and at the closing of the free nomination stage, has attracted entries from 15 countries.
