9 September 2017, Florac, France ~ Florac FEI 160km CEI/CEN*** On 9 September 2017, competitors from 9 countries from as far afield as Australia, Colombia, Belgium, France, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, Oman and the UAE set out to win the coveted prize of a Florac win. It was Spain’s Robert Diez Noguera riding 9-year-old Sunit Du Colombier who came in first with an average speed of 16.288 kph. Congratulations to Diez Noguera and Sunit Du Colombier for the second win in a row (2016, 2017) in this Florac 160km event.
Daniel Ollivier and Pot Made led the way throughout the first 4 loops and were only beaten during the last 23km leg to come home second to Diez Noguera riding with an average speed of 16.029 kph. This was Ollivier’s first participation at Florac and he was delighted to win the Boudheib Initiative’s BECA (Best Endurance Challenge Award) First Prize and receive a cheque for €2,000 together with a Gaston Mercier endurance saddle and a handsome trophy.
BECA’s second place went to French rider Virginie Atger with her lovely grey Tonik Armor finishing with an average speed of 15.130kph. BECA’s third position award was taken by Ali Hassan Yousaf Al Farsi riding Khandjar Du Boulve from the Royal Cavalry of Oman, also third place in the CEI3* event.
