Endurance Festival on island of Sardinia
Lady riders compete in Spain
29 June 2017, Sardinia, Italy ~ A 5-member UAE ladies team will be competing in one of the four rides that will be staged in the HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Sardinia Endurance Festival which takes place from 30 June – 2 July at the scenic Horse Country Resort area in Arborea, Sardinia, Italy.
Organized by the HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival, the four rides are: the HH Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies CEI Two-star Cup, HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Endurance Cup-CEI Two-star ride, a Regional CEI One-star 90 km race and a under-21 years event, and the CEI YJ Two-star 120 km ride.
The UAE Ladies team members and horses they will be riding in the HH Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies CEI Two-star Cup are: Alia Al Saboori on Oregon, Alyazia Al Romaithi on Holoutaria 3, Ayesha Al Romaithi on Shamberlain, Nouf Ali on Aranza and Mira Alansari on Dahes. The Chef D’équipe of the UAE ladies team is Mussallem Alamri, Director of Al Jazira Stables I & II.
“A breathtaking race will start at dawn on Saturday, 1 July and will continue with other categories on Sunday, 2 July. The course will pass through scenic pine woods, around ponds and along the beach and near the old fisherman’s village of Marceddì, a strategic point for watching the race and tasting some traditional Sardinian food,” the organizers advised.
In the 120km HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Endurance Cup the organizers expect over 35 men and lady riders to be participating.
The 120 km will be divided into four stages. The first stage is over 36 kilometers (red flags), followed by a 40-minute rest period; the second phase over 36 kilometers (red flags), followed by a 40-minute rest period; third phase over 25 km (white flags), then a rest period of 40 minutes, and the fourth and final stage over 25 km (yellow flags).
