21 June 2019, Pleasanton, California~ They were not the only horses in the race, but the two friendly barn rivals, Sand Victor and Dream Pearl, met for their first joint race of the season at Pleasanton, California on 21 June 2019.
With a good break Sand Victor under Hugo Herrera took control of the race from the start with no intention of being headed. This time it was True Grit ridden by Pedro Flores that severely challenged Sand Victor down the stretch, but Sand Victor prevailed. Dream Pearl under jockey David Martin came in third. The win time for the 5 Furlong race was 1:05:70.
Terri Eaton, trainer of both Sand Victor and Dream Pearl said: “The race set up well for Victor. Seems Pearl is always a bit nervous first out of the season. The race was also a bit short for her with a lot of speed. Just not Pearl’s day.”
Result: Winner Sand Victor, 2 True Grit, 3. Dream Pearl, 4, Z YOYO GO 5. My Thunder Bolt.
Sand Victor is by Burning Sand out of Vague De Gemme by Baco Du Cassou and is owned by Joe and Betty J. Gillis.
Arabian racing continues today, 23 June, at the Pleasanton track.
