April 22, 2013, Russia ~ This year Tersk has more good news! First, breeding season is almost complete with 82 Arabian foals and one more perhaps here when you read this. That is the exact number Tersk had planned in 2012. We are proud of the babies by Nonius (Nougatin-Nakhodka), Newmarket (Marwan-Navigatsia), Nash (Amer-Nakhodka), Tourin (Nonius-Tara), Vasiliy (Princ D’Orient-Vamlana), Maklaud, Gabon and others.
Living in the 21st century we have a great opportunity to put foals on the ground from stallions which are already gone. Thanks to technical progress and great specialists, this year we had babies using frozen semen from Mashuk and Muscat!
Tersk Sud is very thankful to Michael Otroshchenko (VNIIK) for his excellent work with deep-frozen semen. Due to his efforts via artificial insemination we are able to have an alive sign from the great past. The first foal born out of this experiment was Prince Mashuk (Mashuk x Puiltsa by Aja Shakakhan). As you will remember, Mashuk was chief sire at Tersk from 1980-1987 and died in 2002 at the age of 25. Some of the famous Mashuk get are:
Vodolej (out of Mechta), *1983
Veteran (out of Polnoch), *1983
Gips (out of Polinezia), *1984
Djesika (out of Pliaska), *1985
Pamir (out of Polinezia), *1987
Prikumsk (out of Polinezia), *1988
Last year Tersk bought 13 of the best broodmares from Khrenovskoy Stud, at that time were in foal to such stallions as Dilijans, Drager, Valentino J, and Akcent. These mares are now delivering these nice foals!
We are also happy to announce that our famous, elite mare Nakhodka by Drug, has given birth to a wonderful colt. We look forward to more wonderful babies from her to follow.
On 13-14th of April, there was a first step in Tersk endurance competitions when 20 horses from different studs took part in the first ever (CEN 1 *, CEN 2 *) at Tersk Stud. The distances were 40 and 80 km, and speeds were limited with a maximum speed of 16 km/h. Tersk opened their stables to the horses taking part in the competition, offering hay, litters, avtodrinking-bowl and security. All were given for free.
As the competition went well, we now plan to make it an annual event, in the process lifting the level of the endurance competitions at Tersk up to international.
On 25-26 of May we will hold our spring event, the Regional show, Rising Star of Tersk 2013- with the much anticipated auction of purebred Arabian horses. For more information, please, visit our website at www.terskarabian.com.
And to celebrate the great tradition we are looking forward to August 23-25, Tersk Open Days, when Tersk will open its doors for breeders, amateurs and guests.
Tersk Stud cordially invites everyone to experience this unforgettable event. More information at our website www.terskarabian.com. All the best, Sergey Ivanov, Stud Managing Director
