WINS GRADE 3 CRYSTAL & COMPANY ARABIAN STALLION STAKES
9 November 2018, Lone Star Park, Texas ~ It’s always a thrill when a homebred horse wins for his owners, but it would be hard to top having bred two horses that finished first and second in a race. That’s exactly how it played out in the 8th edition of the Grade 3, Crystal & Company Arabian Stallion Stakes 9 November 2018 at Lone Star Park.
Betty & Joseph Gillis’ QUICK SAND AA got the victory in the one mile contest ¾ of a length in front of the Gillis’ EASTER MAN. Fractional times were 28.24; 54.81 and 1:20.87 with a final of 1:47.17. Both are trained by Jerenesto Torrez.
It was jockey Ernesto Valdez-Jiminez on EASTER MAN who went to the front and was well rated setting the pace. Winning rider Rodolfo Guerra aboard QUICK SAND AA raced on the inside and rated just off the leader making a bid in the far turn and putting a head in front at the quarter pole. The pair battled through the stretch and the winner proved best under strong urging. It was seven lengths to UPTOWN SANDY GIRL in third. TIFFANYS DREAM, DBON TEMP ROULER and FLEET DE SAND completed the order of finish.
The win puts QUICK SAND AA’s perfect win streak at six straight this year. The 3-yr-old filly by BURNING SAND upped her career earnings to $302,231.
