November 14, 2013, Doha ~ Qatar Racing & Equestrian Club runs Barzan Cup & Qatar Guineas Day
La Hoor (Burning Sand x Pettra), owned and trained by Hassan Ali Hassan Al Matwi with Marvin Suerland up took command of the race and once the handsome black bay colt shifted into gear on the backstretch there was no catching him. He finished with 1. 5 lengths over the recently imported Kalino (Kaolino x Virlaxy) under Pat Convertino. Al Atique under Richard Mullen was third in the turf 1600meter for 4 year olds.
On November 13, Al Shahania Stud’s Harran (Burning Sand x Aziza D’Aroco) once again displayed his potential with a smashing win in the Al Hamla Cup, the main event of the 4th Race Day held on the sand track of the Racing and Equestrian Club. Trainer Julian Smart’s ward was ridden by jockey Richard Mullen to a six-length win over Tuyoorna and Al Mostarsil.
The Smart-Mullen combine was successful earlier with Al Azuur’s thrilling win in the local bred Pure Arabian Graduation Plate, run over nine furlongs. Mullen was at his extreme best while thwarting the challenge of stable mate Raheel.
The day’s opener saw Mohammed Al Ramzani saddled Mujaazef (Hatteen x Seduction Al Maury )winning the local bred Pure Arabian Maiden Plate in a commanding manner.
