July 30, 2013, Holland ~ Pandoro (Normative x Poema), pushed to the lead by jockey, Anthony Deau, triumphed across the line to land the 1800m Wathba Stud Farm Cup (PA Maiden) at the Duindigt Racecourse, Netherlands on Sunday, July 28. Alzain (Khoutoubia), owned by Khalid Al Nabooda finished second under Jadey Pietrasiewicz, and behind for third came Mr. Domonique Akel’s, Eausterlitz (Munjiz), under Anne van Den Troost. Winning time: 02:10:06.
The well-bred Russian colt is trained by Diana Dorenberg on behalf of German owner E. Soltau.
“He’s honest performer and ran a big race,” said the jubilant winning jockey later. “He responded well in the home straight and held on very strongly when attacked in the last strides.”
The same opinion was echoed by the trainer Mrs. Diana Dorenberg who noted that Pandoro is very easy to train and there’s more to come from him in the near future.
“He’s still a big baby and improving from one race to another. I’m truly lucky to have him at my stables and hopefully he will be enjoying a very good season with more exposure in the big races.”
The race included a field of nine horses and was held under the directives of HH Sheikh Mansoor bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs as part of the HH Sheikh Mansoor bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival.
Pandoro’s owner, M. Soltau stated: “We must once again thank HH Sheikh Mansoor bin Zayed Al Nahyan for his generous support for this noble creature. The Arabian horse deserves support and the Arabian races have grown under the umbrella of the festival. It’s a brilliant idea and we are all obliged to HH Sheikh Mansoor bin Zayed Al Nahyan.”
