Ms Dixie Sets 6 Furlong Arabian Track Record At Los Alamitos
8 September, 2014, Cypress, California ~ In the first weekend in five years that Arabian race horses have returned to race at Los Alamitos, the original home of Arabian racing in California, Ms Dixie set a track record.
Ms Dixie (Burning Sand x Dixie Darlene by Wiking), set a new track record at 6 furlongs in Sunday’s third race ( 7 September) when she covered the distance in 1:16.26. Ridden by Kelsi Purcell for trainer Scott Powell, Ms Dixie bettered the 6-furlong Arabian track record held by Unchainedd Melody since October 7, 1993 of 1:17. Ms Dixie’s 16th win in 37 career starts came over the new one-mile oval at Los Alamitos Race Course. Unchainedd Melody’s track record was posted in a race held at the 5/8th of a mile oval at the Orange County track. Quarter Moon Ranch LLC owns Ms Dixie, bred by Bill Waldron.
