19 August, 2014, Ferndale, California ~ On Saturday 16 August, the Wathba Racing Series continued at the Humboldt County Fair in Ferndale, California. The race was carded as the third on a record-setting day as attendance reached the ultimate of 6,277 bringing along a 27% increase in on-track handle. The previous attendance record was 4,265 for the same day.
The Wathba Cup race was won by MS Dennie MHF (Oman de Blaziet x Ms Benz by Wiking) owned by Nicola Forbes-Robinson and Jim Schleimer and trained by Osman Villalta. MS Dennie MHF ridden by Joe Crispin made a bold inside move at the top of the stretch and won easily by 6 lengths. Joe Crispin has been the leading rider for Portland Meadows for years. Currently he hangs his tack at Golden Gate outside San Francisco but has come to Humboldt where he is the current leading rider. MS Dennie MHF shipped in from Delaware earlier this summer and has competed in 5 Arabian races on the fair circuit. MS Dennie MHF has two wins, one second and two thirds in her campaign on the fairs. MS Dennie MHF is an example of what the Wathba Racing Series has done for California. The racing population in California has continued to grow and has the support of fans throughout the fair racing calendar.
