Majd Al Uraiq and Arrafa triumph in Qatar

At the  55th race meeting at the Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club,  Hassan Ali Hassan Al Matwi’s Majd Al Uraiq (Majd Al Arab x Mezooh) was a comfortable winner in the Pure Arabian Plate for three-year olds. Jockey Gerald Avranche rode the winner to a three length lead. AJS Qahir came second and Al Nakhsh was third.

Avranche’s second victory of the day came when he steered Zakhir Stud’s Damis (Amer x Kachia) to Pure Arabian Stakes triumph.

Trainer Al Ghazali’s win came through for Al Shahania Stud on Arrafa (Burning Sand x Hemie De Faust) in the Local Bred Pure Arabian Maiden Plate. Yanis Aouabed took Arrafa out of the maiden ranks with a six-length  victory in a time of one minute and 46.45 seconds. Lammaha Al Naif was second and Waad came in third.

Al Saad Stud’s Ultimome (Djendel x Tidja D’Ibos) with Adnan Hawa astride won the Pure Arabian Maiden Plate.

Thoughbreds were well represented as Sputnik Sweetheart won the 1,400m Thoughbred Handicap.

At the 54th race meeting at Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club (QREC)  Majid Safedeen trained Al Uraiq (Nizam x Ninou De Carrere) completed an impressive win in the Local Bred Pure Arabian Stakes 1200m race. It was the third ride on this horse with two wins for Marco Monteriso. El Ejtiyah came second and Barq Al Naif third.

It was celebration time for jockey Evert Pheiffer as he claimed success for the first time in Qatar. He rode Hassan Al Matwi’s Nazzaa Al Uraiq (Perle D’Amour x Tahleel Al Naif) to victory in the Pure Arabian Handicap race for horses rated 40 and below. Galia was second and Manjam came in for third.

Mohammed Hussain trained Al Mazrooah hogged the limelight winning the Local Thoroughbred Stakes with a start-to-finish journey in the hands of French jockey David Bouland.
