Kazan International Racecourse Welcomes Sheikh Mansoor Festival

13 to contest Sheikh Zayed Cup in Kazan

29 August 2018, Kazan, Tatarstan ~ The Kazan International racecourse in Tatarstan’s capital city of Kazan is all set for two big races under the banner of the HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival on Thursday, 30 August 2018.

The featured race will be the Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan Cup which carries a prize fund of €30,000 and has attracted the cream of Purebred Arabian horses for the 1600 metre contest.

The horses in the race are Translation, Irbis, Saladin, White Princess, Arab Queen, Blacktex, Dorby, May Bay, Boston, Picard, Diamond, Tobasco and Pemos.

This year the UAE is celebrating the Year of Zayed to mark the 100th birth anniversary of our great leader Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan and hence this race named after him gains added importance. Sheikh Zayed was a passionate promoter of Purebred Arabian horses and the Festival, under the directives of HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, is continuing to move in the same path,” said Ms. Lara Sawaya, Executive Director of HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival, Chairperson of the International Federation of Horse Racing Academies (IFHRA) and Chairperson of Ladies & Apprentice Racing Committees in the International Federation of Arabian Horse Racing Authorities (IFAHR).

Kazan’s second race under the Festival’s banner is the Wathba Stallions Cup which aims to bolster Arabian racing at the grassroots level. This race, worth €5000 is open to 2-year-old Purebred Arabian horses and has attracted 11 runners.

Nurimane, Pri, Perry, March, Vasilevs, Van Drina, Tanks, Mobitka, Princess Of The Arabian, Prince Wangog and Convention are in the fray for the Wathba Stallions Cup which will be run over 1400 metres.

The HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival is sustained by the Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority and coordinated by Abu Dhabi Sports Council, with National Feed and Flour Production and Marketing Co.
