March 5, 2014 – Meydan Racing ~ 2013 Kahayla Classic winner, Al Mamun Monlau is ready to defend his title starting with the run-up race, the third round of the Al Maktoum Challenge (G1) at Meydan Saturday, March 8. Al Mamun Monlau (Munjiz x Salalah De Monlau) is from Qatar’s newly formed Al Shaqab Racing and trained by Jean Francois Bernard. The six-year-old son of Munjiz, rated 122, will see stiff competition from like-rated, Versac PY, runner-up in last year’s Khayla Classic. The son of Njewman finished one and a three-quarter length second to Rabbah De Carrere in Round 2 of the Al Maktoum Challenge 30 days ago and is in good form for the March 30 date, according to trainer, Erwin Charpy.
HH Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan has two other Munjiz bred colts in the race. Of these Raaziq, rated 119 is looking primed after finishing second to Rabbah De Carrere (FR) in the G1 in Abu Dhabi three weeks ago.
