Prestigious Arabian Race part of Preakness Day
5 /21/2022, Baltimore, Maryland, USA ~ The 2021 Darley Horse of the Year horse of the year made a grand start to his 2022 race record in sweeping the field at the Pimlico-based UAE President’s Cup race in Baltimore, Maryland, on 21 May, 2022.
The 5-yo chestnut stallion headed out under Carol Cedeno from Post 6 and quickly set the pace along the rail with a run-away finish. Uptown Lady Arabella kept second until passed by Quick Sand AA in the stretch and that was the 1,2,3 finish for the 1 1/16 mile dirt run in the time of 01:55:70.
Hiab Al Zaman (Hilal Al Zaman x My Shelby Cobra) last ran and won at the Lone Star Texas Arabian Gr 3 Stakes in December 2021. His race record stands at 10(5-0-2).

On the same card as the Preakness Stakes 2022, the Gr 1 $100,000 UAE President’s Cup is a Premier race that is run in many countries around the world in rotating racetracks.
This year’s race marks the fourth time purebred Arabian horses have run at the world-famous Pimlico Race course on Preakness Day. The 2021 UAE President Cup (G1), won by Paddys Day at Pimlico handled over $2.3 million, a record handle on a single Arabian race.

Presented by the UAE Ministry of Presidential Affairs, the UAE President Cup Series began in 1994. In 2022, the series will visit France, USA, Tunisia, Italy, Poland, Sweden, Belgium, Russia, Germany, United Kingdom, Libya, Netherlands, Egypt, Morocco, and Saudi Arabia.
