The first US HARC racing forum offered information, background, and a way forward for many Arabian horse breeders
On Friday, 15 April 2016, at the Arabian Breeders World Cup, an estimated 40 show attendees enjoyed the hospitality of the HARC Forum on Arabian racing. This hour-long presentation offered information that might be a game changer for many Arabian breeders. Breeders Cup attendees to the Forum came from as far away as Australia, including several owners of Arabians already racing there.
The Arabian Breeders Cup in Las Vegas was an ideal venue to showcase Arabian racing as an alternative discipline for many top-bred Arabian horses. Arabians with the correct physique and stamina work well in sport disciplines, and racing has an excellent paycheck waiting for talented individuals. In fact, in many countries such as Russia, France and Poland, horses have been traditionally started on the race track and directed to other disciplines if they showed no racing inclination.
AJC Director of Marketing Evie Tubbs Sweeney, and Horsereporter’s Pamela Burton co-hosted a multi-tiered presentation featuring a side presentation showing the benefits of racing Arabians including racing statistics and videos followed by a lively sharing session. The question that came up most often was, “How do we begin?”
