24 January 2019, Doha, Qatar ~ Thursday, 24 January 2019 at the Al Rayyan Park in Doha hosted three Arabian races on the card. Given his form, having won a Group 2 last time out, the win was no surprise, and H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Khalifa Al Thani’s EBRAZ (Amer x Massamarie) lived up to the expectations with a comfortable victory in the PUREBRED ARABIAN CONDITIONS. In the 1850m run, Theo Bachelot was once again in the saddle of the Julian Colin Smart trained grey 6 year-old colt, and the two went past the post with two lengths and a quarter to spare for his eighth victory in 21 starts.
Khalid Nasser Hamad Al Naimi’s SAAB (AF Albahar x Fille Des Sables) had put up solid efforts this season, including a victory in November. On Thursday, the 8yo registered his first victory on turf since April 2015 when Gerald Avranche guided the grey horse to a close half a length victory in the six furlong LOCAL PUREBRED ARABIAN CONDITIONS sprint.
Qatari apprentice jockey Rashid Ali Al Marri notched his ninth victory this season so far when he and his partner, SNAFI AL SHAJAA (Amer x Jazeilla Al Naif), registered his first career victory by smallest of margins on Thursday. In the mile long LOCAL PUREBRED ARABIAN HANDICAP (85 & below), Al Marri was in the saddle for trainer and owner Hassan Ali Hassan Al Matwi, and the colt went past the post with an advantage of a nose on Ryan Curatolo ridden Murihk.
