19 February 2018, St Moritz, Switzerland ~ In an exciting finish Dutch trainer Karin Van den Bos’s Dynamites completed a memorable double after winning the HH Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies World Championship (IFAHR) race on the White Turf frozen track at St Moritz, Switzerland, on Sunday, 18 February 2018.

After winning the HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival-supported Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan Cup here on the ice tracks on the frozen St Moritz lake a fortnight ago, Dynamites won a second thrilling race under Germany’s Rebecca Danz on Sunday, the final day of this St Moritz White Turf Festival 2018.

Both Dynamites under Danz and Toutatix under Italian Valeria Toccolini battled hard as first Dynamites hit the front and then Toutatix. Dynamites, the 4-year-old chestnut colt by Nashwan Al Khalediya and owned by Landgoed Waterland, regained the front advantage and was hotly-pursued by Toutatix on the home stretch.

Soon Lahoob under Hungarian Csenge Sutak unleashed a searing run on the outside and after overtaking Toutatix fell just short of the win by a head to the favorite Dynamites. It was a thrilling race watched by over 12,000 fans.

With the victory, Rebecca Danz qualified for the Festival’s H.H. Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies World Championship final in November in Abu Dhabi.

It was such a great race and all the seven professional lady jockeys exhibited fantastic skills on the tricky snow tracks. We are happy that it ended in a safe manner and I congratulate the German jockey Rebecca and also the trainer Karin van den Bos who has scored another double triumph in our Festival races,” said Ms. Lara Sawaya, Executive Director of the HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival, General Manager of Wathba Stallions, Chairperson of the International Federation of Horse Racing Academies (IFHRA), Chairperson of Ladies & Apprentice Racing Committees in the International Federation of Arabian Horse Racing Authorities (IFAHR) after the prize distribution ceremony.

For us it is important that the safety measures taken last summer were effective, although we have been able to employ them only now, in winter. They give us an insight into the track at any given time,” was the satisfied comment of Thomas C. Walther, President of White Turf.
