Friday May 2, Casablanca, Morocco ~ Owners, patrons and international guests looked forward to the the International Day of Purebred Arabian racing at the Hippodrome Casa-Anfa in Casablanca, Morocco on May 2. The three races, two rated by IFAHR Group III, did not disappoint.
Grand Prix de S M. le Roi Mohammed VI, Group III with prize money of 1.2 million MAD – €106,649 (Purebred Arabian male and female horses of 4yrs+ 2,100m) was won by Djarnizam Maamora (Maroc), ridden by Abderrahim Faddoul and owned by Jalobey Racing. Tamayuz ridden by Khalid Ibba and owned by Sedrati Mohamed Azeddine came second, and third in was Sabeh (USA) owned by Karimine M’hamed under Hicham Lakjal.
Grand Prix S.A.R. le Prince Héritier Moulay El Hassan Group III with prize money of 800,000 MAD – €71,100 (stallions and mares 4yrs+, 1900m) was won Aristote du Croate (France), ridden to the win by Jaouad Khayate and owned by de Rachida Allali.
Udallan (France), the winner of this race in 2013, ridden by Abdellah El Kandoussi this outing and owned by de Kamal Daissaoui, had to be content with the second place and was followed in by Amir Maamora (Maroc), ridden by Ahmed Lakjal owned by Jalobey Racing.
The victory in the S.A.R. le Prince Moulay Rachid (for colts and fillies 3yrs+, 1,750m) with prize money of 700.000 MAD – €62,212, was captured by Samsam Al Khalediah (KSA) ridden by Roberto Perez and owned by Al Khalediah Stables.
Second and third positions were taken by Kerchera (France), owned by des Héritiers Zakaria Hakam and ridden by Said Madihi, then Simawla (Maroc) ridden by Thami Zergane and owned by Sedrati Mohamed Azeddine.
At the Prize Giving Ceremony S.A.R. le Prince Héritier Moulay El Hassan presented the trophies to the winning owners.
*His Royal Highness Prince Moulay Hassan, age 11, is the current heir apparent to the Moroccan throne. He is the oldest child of King Mohammed VI of Morocco and his wife Princess Lalla Salma of Morocco and he is named after his grandfather Hassan II. If and when he succeeds to the throne, he will become Hassan III.
