DIAR Prep Race Final 29 July, at Newbury

21 June 2017, UK ~ The Arabian Racing Organisation (ARO) has announced fifteen entries for the final Dubai International Arabian Races(DIAR) UK Prep Race which will run at Newbury on Thursday, 29 June, 2017. The mile and a quarter contest supports the feature event of DIAR, The Shadwell Dubai International Stakes Gr1PA, won by some of the world’s best Arabian racehorses in previous years.

Entries include Aghsaan, winner of the Group 3 ARO Cup over a mile and a similar conditions event over this trip at Newbury last season. Both she and fellow HH Sheikh Hamdan entry, Awzaan, have been Group placed, as has recent winner Mith’haf Athbah for Athbah Stud.

Gemma Cobb, ARO Racing Operations Executive said: “With a mix of proven older horses as well as some progressive young ones amongst today’s entries, this promises to be a great finish to the DIAR prep series in the UK. Declarations will close on Tuesday 27th June.

DIAR at Newbury on 30 July promises to be a really exciting day and is always the highlight of the ARO racing calendar. We have already seen an increase in entries for the main event for the early closing races, which may still rise further as supplementary entries for the international races and the handicaps confined to UK runners at DIAR, all close on Wednesday, 19 July.

The DIAR Prep Race scheme has been a great addition, helping to promote the fixture across Europe. Hopefully we may see one or more of the Prep Race winners or placed horses secure a bonus race on DIAR and thereby claim their additional prize money as Urge Di Gallura did last year,” Cobb said.
