Supporting Arabian racing from the beginning
10 June 2017, Ghlin, Belgium ~ Owner-trainer Peter Deckers registered a brilliant 1-2 finish in the HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival’s Wathba Stallions Cup race held at the Hippodrome de Wallonie-Ghlin in Belgium on 15 May 2017.
Once again it was Anna van den Troost, the lady jockey who has tasted consistent success in races organized by the Festival, who helped Jamas D.A. edge past Suman DA ridden by Stephen Breux.
Only a neck separated Jamas DA and Suman DA, both horses owned and trained by Peter Deckers and bred by Johan Verstrepen of Dijkhoeve Arabians in Belgium.
Madjy and Makbar De Piboul finished third and fourth respectively in the €5,000 race run over 1500 metres and organized by the Festival to boost Arabian racing at the grassroots level.
Belgian Arabian racing chief Nelly Philippot said, “We thank HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan for this particular Wathba Stallions Cup series as it encourages Purebred Arabian racing at the lowest and most important level.”
