15 February 2016, Abu Dhabi, UAE ~ Under the patronage of HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club, the UAE Arabian Horse Society hosted the Dh16.5m Abu Dhabi International Arabian Horse Championship at the Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club. Over 365 contenders representing 139 studs enjoyed the five-day affair.
The Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan Cup was staged under the sponsorship of the HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival and was claimed by D Seraj for the Dubai Arabian Horse Stud.
The events of the final day was attended by Prince Abdul Aziz Bin Ahmed bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud, owner of Athba Stud, Sheikh Hamad Bin Khaled Al Sabah, Esam Abdulla, chairman of the UAE Arabian Horse Society and a number of owners and breeders from within the UAE and elsewhere in addition to the big crowd of the sport lovers.
The six competitions of the final day were open for one-year-old colts, one-year-old fillies, older colts, mares, stallions and Sheikh Zayed Cup.
Dubai Stud claimed the one-year-old fillies gold medal as well as the one-year-old colts gold medal, Al Saqran snatched the verdict in the mares category, Ajman Stud won the stallions gold medal, Khaled Ghanim Al Omairi landed the old fillies gold medal and Abdulla bin Khesaif did the better work in the older colts category.
The HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival is sustained by the Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority and coordinated by Abu Dhabi Sports Council, with National Feed and Flour Production and Marketing Co.
