4 October 2018 ~ A pair of talented three-year-olds from the blue-blooded breeding operation of Renée-Laure Koch commanded the two highest prices on 4 October 2018, at the 2018 Purebred Arabian Sale, both on the bid of Gérard Larrieu’s Chantilly Bloodstock Agency. The two horses had been added to the catalogue as Wild Cards on the back of some eye-catching performances, and are declared to run in tomorrow’s championship races at Saint-Cloud, thus offering their new owner an immediate opportunity to benefit from his purchases.
Trained by Olivier Trigodet, FORTUNA AL MAURY (lot 110) commanded a closing bid of €155,000. The daughter of Mrs. Koch’s homebred stallion No Risk Al Maury was placed on both her starts to date including 2nd in the Gr.2PA Prix Nevada II. She will be among the fancied runners in the 5 October Gr.1 PA Qatar Arabian Trophy des Pouliches.
Minutes earlier, SEA BIRD AL MAURY (lot 100) had brought the hammer down at €150,000 for the same connections. The son of Mijdadd hails from the stud’s leading family, to which such luminaries as SYLVINE AL MAURY, NO RISK AL MAURY and RUBIS DE CARRERE all trace back. The charge of Damien de Watrigant has been placed in both his starts, most recently in the Gr.3PA Prix Cheri Bibi at La Teste, and is a prominent contender in the Gr.1 PA Qatar Arabian Trophy des Poulains tomorrow (5 October).
The first lot in the ring, NALINK (lot 1), a two-year-old son of Amer bred and offered by Haras de Saint-Faust, was knocked down for €100,000 to Salim Saad Suhail Al Mukhaini Bahwan, a major owner in his native Oman. The handsome grey is out of a daughter of the blue hen NAIADA AL MAURT, the dam or granddam of top-class performers NEZ D’OR, NIRWAN, MKEEFA, CHADDAD, RAJEH, ALMAA etc.

Overall, the 77 horses who changed hands commanded a gross figure of €2,052,500 and an average price of €26,656. There were 119 horses offered in 2018 as compared to 112 in 2017.
