18 July, Pleasanton, California, USA ~ The winner in the first of the Triple Series races for the California Bonus Bonanza Stakes at Pleasanton, California, was the 3-yr-old California Sand JS ridden by David Martin. The Terri Eaton trainee showed the same talent he had on 5 July for speed, winning his second out for two races under Martin.

With a slow start following Haffir’s Simone in the lead, the Burning Sand colt came out four wide around the turn with a 1/4 mile to go, then switching to high gear he easily took the lead drawing away to win in the time of 1:13:50.
