Breeders’ Cup Returns to Santa Anita In November 2016

Breeders Cup, The Thoroughbred Global Showdown, Renews Racing Deal

image00729 June 2016, LONDON ~ Breeders Cup Ltd has renewed its global rights deal with Henry Birtles Associates (HBA) up to and including 2018.

Breeders’ Cup, Thoroughbred racing’s end-of-season global showdown, returns to Santa Anita in Arcadia, California, on 4 – 5 November 2016, where the prize money available will be worth in excess of $28 million.

We are delighted to extend our association with one of racing’s greatest annual events for a further 3 years,” said HBA’s Managing Director Henry Birtles. “The international classic hour format, which we pioneered to enable realistic opportunities in the mainstream, has already succeeded in opening up racing to much wider TV audiences. It’s great to be working with an organization which shares our goals in getting this fantastic sport back to a place it once occupied and still belongs.”

Available programming includes two days of NBC coverage as well as The International Classic Hour, an all action 1 hour live special produced specifically to suit the competitive schedules of mainstream global networks.

Above all, to maximize reach, Racing needs an organization with a genuine understanding and passion for the sport, combined with extensive market experience and contacts within the media sector. HBA is widely known to have both and that is the primary reason for Breeders’ Cup renewing this association,” said Peter Rotondo, Breeders’ Cup Vice President,
