Al Shaqab Racing dominates in Deauville
16 August, 2014, Deauville ~ Bint Jakkarta (QA), running in the colors of Al Shaqab Racing, took on the colts for the first time in the 2,000m €50,000 Al Rayyan Cup (Gr1 P/A), on Saturday, 16 August 2014, at Deauville. Thomas Fourcy’s representative left her rivals no chance after making her move on turning into the straight. Hathlool (UAE) took second place from Mindza (FR), belonging to Hassan Al Matwi, and Beune de l’Ardus came in fourth (the latter two losing their unbeaten records).
Success for Qatari breeding
Bred in Qatar by Mubarak Al Naemi, Bint Jakkarta has proved a success for Qatari breeding on French soil. She is a half-sister of Al Charif, the best 3yo colt in 2009 and winner of the Qatar Total French Arabian Breeders Challenge (Gr1 PA) in Saint Cloud in the hands of Thomas Fourcy.
Al Mourtazez (Dahess x Arwa), also under the colors of Al Shaqab Racing, took things in hand in the 2000m €50,000 Doha Cup PRIX MANGANATE Gr1 PA. The colt held off the strong finish of H.H. Sheikh Abdullah Bin Khalifa Al Thani’s Kalino (USA), finishing a promising second. Handassa held on to third place.
Trainer Thomas Fourcy was delighted with his two Gr1 wins: “Bint Jakkarta is generous,” he said. “She is a mare that doesn’t need to do a lot in the mornings. Al Mourtazez needs to work harder. In general, they are horses that do not need to go very fast. You need to be patient and to listen to them as they build up their moral. I prefer to run them rather than to work them hard at home. These two wins are very motivating for Al Shaqab Racing. I am lucky that they trust me with well-bred horses. I rode a lot of the family of Bint Jakkarta and Al Mourtazez at Gr1 PA level,” he concluded.
