1 November 2017 ~ The Arabian Horse Racing Club of Belgium (AHRCB) celebrated it’s closing race on 30 October 2017, at the Hippodrome de Wallonie-Ghlin and saw the US-bred Storm Troupour emerge triumphant over the 11 starters, while Pamills Lipse gained Sweden’s win in the HARC Championship.

The AHRCB horses came from five countries (England, Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden and Belgium) for the 1500m race. El Zarka D.A. a young Belgian bred owned by J. Vertrepen pushed the amply confirmed Storm Troupour, bred in the USA by Mokee Arabians and racing for England, to the wire and finished second. Third in was Sweden’s Macallan. The winning time was 1:39:899/100.

The 2017 €20,000 prize money HARC Championship was a successful confrontation between six nations adhering to the HARC-idea for promoting races of Heritage horses to help maintain the original characteristics of the pure Arabian horse: beauty, speed and stamina. With the first two horses repeating their 2016 performance, this 2100m race saw Maria Hagman-Eriksson’s Pamills Lipse once again in the winner’s circle, with Tersk Stud’s Sakmagon Tersk, again second to Pamills Lipse, this time by 2 lengths, while another Russian horse, Ceylon, owned by Valentin Bukhtoyarov, came in third. Winning time was 2:28:58/100; 50.88Kph.

Nelly Philippot, Chairwoman of the AHRCB gives the details: “Russia choose three of its best race-horses to represent them, Sweden sent the same team as last year, England again had one interesting representative of essentially Russian bloodlines and the newcomers Iran and Italy had each one horse starting. The results were very similar to last years Championship confirming the exceptional quality of the Swedish-bred, Russian-American lines with Pamills Lipse winning the individual HARC Championship once again.

The Iranian horse, Ganj Beik impressed everyone by its sixth place despite the incredible trip from Iran, first to Ireland to join its trainer and adapt for one month and next, facing another trip of three days from Ireland to Belgium.”

The Heritage Nations Cup (allotted if at least 3 countries or groups of countries) have at least three starters in the HARC Championship. Points equal to the place of the three best horses of the “country” are added. The Nations Cup goes to the country with the lowest total of points for its three best horses. Trophies are offered by AHO (The Arabian Horse Organisation).
