22 January 2015, Qatar ~ Jassim Mohamed Al Gazali & Sons owned Thawi (Mared Al Sahra x Gardenia Gora) was brilliantly ridden by Harry Bentley to an impressive victory in the Abdulla Bin Hamad Al Attiyah Cup, a Local Bred Pure Arabian race, run over 2000 metres at the Racing and Equestrian Club on Thursday, January 22. The Jassim Al Ghazali schooled Thawi galloped resolutely inside the last 200 metres and won by one and quater lengths from Haashed. Rassan and Mekhbatt completed the frame.

Pier Convertino steered Umm Qarn’s Tabasheer (Mugadir x Ezraa) to a narrow win in the Local Bred Pure Arabian Maiden Plate. The Alban de Mieulle trained Tabasheer held on gamely to win by a neck from a Thabit to take her maiden win in three starts.

Saeed Mohammed Al Shafi owned Nomaas (Hatteen x Raleuse De Faust) was ridden to a confident victory by jockey Cedric Segeon in the Pure Arabian Conditions race, run over a mile. Qassy placed second ahead of Al Khattaf.

Khalid Rashid Saif Al Khayarin owned Leaf Cutter with Marco Monteriso in the stirrups kept at bay the challenge of  Itorio to win the Thoroughbred Conditions race.

Ibrahim Saeed Al Malki owned and trained Victory Laurel posted a comfortable victory in Thoroughbred Advanced Plate.

Ahmed Hassan Al Malki Al Jehani’s Tarrafal was ridden to victory by jockey Convertino in the Thoroughbred Maiden Plate, run over seven furlongs.

Abdulhadi Mana Al Hajri owned Tortoni was brillianty ridden by Marco Monteriso to victory in the Umm Taqa Cup, a Thoroughbred Handicap for horses rated 76 to 96.

Hassan Ali Hassan Al Matwi owned and trained Majd Al Uraiq (Majd Al Arab x Mezooh) proved the best of the runners in the Al Mafiar Cup a Local Bred Pure Arabian Conditions race and the highlight of the sand track at the Racing and Equestrian Club on Wednesday, January 21. Majd Al Uraiq was brilliantly ridden to victory by jockey Marco Monteriso.

H.H Sheikh Mohammed Bin Khalifa Al Thani owned Taghya (Amer x The Wright Stuff) was a runaway winner of the Pure Arabian Maiden Plate. Under jockey Harry Bentley, the Ghazali trained Taghya never looked back once out of the gate, stretching away in the final furlong to win by six lengths from Al Waab and Qaa’ed, both in futile chase of the winner.

H.H Sheikh Mohammed Bin Khalifa Al Thani owned Ghizwan (Amer x Margouia) scored a fluent victory in the Pure Arabian Handicap for horses rated 60 and below. With Richard Mullen astride, the Julian Smart trained Ghizwan shot to the lead inside the final furlong and stretched away to win by five lengthx from stablemate Al Nefor. After setting the pace, Al Taweel, finished third ahead of Ankor Class.

Thoroughbred racing – Abdulaziz Ali Al Qhathiri owned and trained Pure Amber was a runaway winner in the Thoroughbred Graduation Plate under jockey Marco Monteriso.

Khalid Yahya Al Khusaai owned Katja with Harry Bentley up scored a fluent victory in the Thoroughbred Graduation Plate.
