4 October 2014, Paris ~ Edition 2014 of the Arqana Purebred Arabian Sale took place on 3 October at the Saint Cloud race track. The collaboration of Arqana and AFAC was considered a success as buyers came from Italy, Iran, Oman, Morocco, Tunisia, Turkey and Qatar.

Highlights

The sales totaled €1,922,499 with an average price per lot of 30,514€ and a record 82% of the 77 entered horses sold. The top price was paid for the 4 year-old, Mayasa (lot 81). The filly by Majd Al Arab x Frynch by Dormane was purchased for 160,000€ by Gerard Larrieu of Chantilly Bloodstock for Qatar’s Sheail Bin Khalifa Al Kuwari. Chantilly topped the bidding eight times putting  a total of 370,000€ on the books for the day.

Endurance horses also went under the hammer. Stephane Chazel was top bidder paying 32,000€ for Azar de Hiat by Branik (Persik-bred).

Stallions and stocks of frozen doses presented as part of the dissolution of the great French Studs, France-Haras, sparked great auction battles. The Persik-bred Sadepers went for 80,000€ to a group of breeders represented by Jean-Michel Grimal, who wish to keep these genetics in France.

The Association of Breeders of Purebred Thoroughbreds formed by SOREC, the Qataris, the Royal Cavalry of Oman, Haras de Thouars, and by clients of Jean-Pierre de Gasté and the agency brokerage  of FBA then signed the purchase of Lot 70, a stock of 239 frozen semen doses from the  incomparable leader Dormane at 150,000,000€.
