Increased support of HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed al Nahyan Global Arabian Flat Racing Festival in the UK for 2014
March 25, 2014, UK ~ The Arabian Racing Organization (ARO) is delighted to announce the increased support of HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Flat Racing Festival in the UK for 2014. ARO Racing Manager Amanda Smith commented: “We are very excited about the 2014 Sheikh Mansoor Global Festival races It is a great honour for the UK to be hosting the World Arabian Horseracing Conference2014 and this superb portfolio of races is a tremendous boost to owners and trainers of Arabian horses in the UK.We are incredibly grateful to HH Sheikh Mansoor and Lara Sawaya for their ongoing work to further the sport of Arabian Racing both in the UK and worldwide.”
HH SHEIKH ZAYED BIN SULTAN AL NAHYAN CUP (LISTED PA)
Trainers are encouraged to prepare their horses early for the inaugural UK running of the HH Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan Cup (Listed PA). This £70,000 International race will be run at Newbury racecourse on Saturday 31st May and forms part of the now world renowned HH Sheikh Mansoor Festival. The race will be held in conjunction with the fifth World Arabian Horseracing Conference held in London from May 27th to 30th.
HH SHEIKHA FATIMA BINT MUBARAK LADIES WORLD CHAMPIONSHP (IFAHR)
Following a very generous increase in prize money to £25,000, this race is once again the highest value Arabian Handicap to be held under the BHA Regulations for Arabian Horse Racing. The only race in the UK Arabian calendar restricted to Lady Riders which offers both professional and amateur jockeys an opportunity to ride against and learn from other female jockeys around the world. The UK leg of the series is due to take place at Newbury Racecourse on Saturday 31st May on the same card as the listed HH Sheikh Zayed Cup.
HH SHEIKHA FATIMA BINT MUBARAK APPRENTICE WORLD CHAMPIONSHP (IFAHR)
ARO is delighted to announce that the UK will, for the first time, host a leg of the Festival Apprentice series. This series has produced some very talented riders and provides a valuable opportunity for young apprentice jockeys to ride Purebred Arabian horses on an International stage. The £16,000 race will be held at Newbury Racecourse on Sunday 3rd August. Race conditions and the process for allocation of riders are still to be confirmed and will be published in future calendars.
WATHBA STUD FARM CUP
The popular Wathba Stud Farm Cup series will be returning to the UK at Newbury racecourse on Saturday 20th September. Once again, this race will be designed to benefit UK based breeders. The £5,000 prize fund includes £1,000 awarded to the registered breeder of the first horse past the post bred by a breeder with fewer than 5 producing brood mares.
HH SHEIKH MANSOOR AL NAHYAN GLOBAL ARABIAN HORSE RACING FESTIVAL RACE DAYS
Following the successful running of 10 Wathba Stud Farm Cup races at Hereford in 2013, Lara Sawaya, under the directorship of HH Sheikh Mansoor Festival, generously proposed to increase their support of ARO by sponsoring 3 full racedays at this track.The dates for these fixtures are Sunday 8th June, Saturday 5th July and Sunday 7th September.
