3 July 2015, California ~ The Arabian Racing Cup Stakes, contested at Oak Tree in Pleasanton on 21 June, was the first in a series of races the Cup (ARC) is supporting in 2015. In addition to the $4,000 in sponsorship money that was added to the purse, the Cup presented Breeders Incentive payouts directly to the breeders of the first, second and third place finishers in the Arabian Racing Cup Stakes.
In the $14,000 added race, Sand Victor, owned by breeder Joe and Betty Gillis and trained by Osman Villalta, stalked the pacesetter along the inside, advanced to the front and then drew clear to win by 3 lengths over Ayers in second and Twice Rich in third. Both of these horses were owned by Warren Shelley and trained by his wife Helen Shelley. The final time for the 6 furlongs was a quick 1:19.58.
The breeders of the top three finishers split $1,000 in Breeder Incentive awards. Congratulations to all the connections of these fine horses. It was paid as follows:
1st Sand Victor – $500 to breeder Joe and Betty Gillis
2nd Ayers – $300 to breeder Bill Waldron
3rd Twice Rich – $200 to breeder Felix Payne

The Arabian Racing Cup is a nonprofit corporation founded by Dr. Sam Harrison, originally chartered in 1983 and currently run by its Board of Stewards. The Cup is dedicated to the national and international promotion of breeding and racing purebred Arabian horses.
