SOREC logoApril 11, 2013, Casablanca, Morocco ~ The Société Royale d’Encouragement du Cheval (SOREC) is happy to bring you the sixth edition of the Grand Prix de Son Altesse Royale Le Prince Héritier Moulay El Hassan at the Casablanca-Anfa race course on Friday April 12, 2013. The program with eight races will being at 13:30 and will include:

  •  Grand Prix de S.A.R. Le Prince Héritier Moulay El Hassan: This prestigious race has prize money of 500,000 Moroccan Dirham -MAD ($58,850); 250,000 MAD goes to the winner. Open to Thoroughbred stallions and mares, 4 years and up. Distance: 2400m.
  •  Derby des 3 ans / Grand Prix de l’Elevage: Reserved for Thoroughbred colts and fillies of 3 yrs old born and raised in Morocco.  Distance:1900m  
  •  Coupe de Vitesse:  For Anglo- Arab colts/fillies, 4 years and up. Distance: 1000 m.

Another highlight of the day, the Prix H.H Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak, is a  reserved for amateur lady riders that will race on Purebred Arabians of 4 yrs and older.  Distance: 1900m.

This HH Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak Ladies Championship series is organized by the HH Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Racing Festival, and is run in 12 countries. The first edition was run on May 4, 2012 during the International Purebred Arabian racing day, and returns for the second consecutive year to Morocco Casa-Anfa.

The Société Royale d’Encouragement du Cheval (SOREC) is a public enterprise under the Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries.

The principal mission of SOREC is to support breeding  and racing on a national level as well as to develop the race courses of Morocco.

Racing in Morocco

Each year, more than 1,800 races with at least 10 starters each  are organized in Morocco. More than 400 owners and 3,000 horses are in training.  The major races are the national races and are constantly evolving.
