September 16, 2013, Paris ~ With only three weeks to go until Europe’s richest flat race takes place, the Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe is becoming more anticipated by the day. At Longchamp’s Trials some top contenders showed a preview of what is to come. HH Sheikh Abdullah Bin Khalifa Al Thani’s Al Tair came up with a brilliant end run to thwart the challenge of Kahayla Classic winner Al Mamun Monlau by a nose, taking the Qatar Cup (Prix Dragon Group 2 PA) at the Longchamp racecourse in Paris on Sunday, September 15.

The Alban de Mieulle trained Al Tair was ridden to an exciting victory by jockey Ioritz Mendizabal. Al Tair had finished second to Poulain Kossack in the previous edition of the race. Trainer de Mieulle now has two formidable contenders for the Qatar Arabian World Cup on October 6.
Jean Francois Bernard saddled Al Mamun Monlau (Christophe Soumillion astride) finishing a close second and the rivalry will go head to head when they meet in the World Cup.
Farraaha (Oliver Peslier up) and Muntasar (Pier Convertino astride) completed the frame to give Umm Qarn three places in the top four.
