Al Shamoos Wins Wathba Stallions Cup Edition in La Teste, France

Prix Burkeguy-Wathba Stallions Cup

23 July 2018, La Teste de Buch, France ~ Al Shamoos pushed to the lead in a close finish in the Prix Burkeguy-Wathba Stallions Cup race for Purebred Arabians on Sunday, 22 July 2018, at the La Teste Buch racecourse in France.

Jockey Delphine Santiago drove home the 4-year-old Al Shamos (No Risk Al Maury x Hamiya) to forge ahead in the final furlong after following Al Shaqab Racing’s Al Naama (Majd Al Arab) under Julien Auge into the stretch. The winning filly was bred and is owned by AL Nujaifi Racing and is trained by Charles Gourdian.

Chasing home into third place was Al Shaqab Racing’s 5-year-old Ahzar (Munjiz) ridden by Ioritz Medizabal for EARL Haras De Mandore.

Al Shamoos won the 1400-metre race in a time of 1:31.60.

The €25,000 race was sponsored by the HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival’s Wathba Stallions Cup series.
