March 8, 2014, Abu Dhabi, UAE ~ Owners and riders of privately owned endurance horses were supported in their efforts by the Sheikh Zayed bin Mansoor bin Zayed Al Nahyan Endurance Cup For Private Own Horses, CEN 100km at the Emirates International Endurance Village in Abu Dhabi on Saturday, March 8.
Abdulla Ghanim Al Marri, on board the11-year-old Arabian mare Castle Jumeirah led home in the final stages of the CEN 100km Endurance ride to snag the winning trophy, covering the distance in 03:44:00 at an average speed of 26.788 km/hour.
Following on his heels was Saeed Ahmad Al Harbi on Chemical Ali and closely behind in third was Ali Ghanim Obaid Al Ali on Patagoinia Don Pablo.
Prizes as reward
Al Marri walked away with the major share of the Dh500,000 ($136,000USD) prize-money plus a car and a Rolex watch.
The start list included 68 riders of privately owned horses aand the last rider finished as number 27. Majid Omar bin Biat riding Razorback Time To Fly in a ride time of 5:23:34.
The ride was attended by Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy National Security Advisor and Sheikh Mansoor bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, have attended the Sheikh Zayed bin Mansoor bin Zayed Al Nahyan and other dignitaries.
Adnan Sultan Al Nuaimi, director of the Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club commented: “The lucky winner drove home a brand new 4WD car besides a major share in the Dh500.000 prize-money and the festival’s Rolex wrist piece. The top three finishers in the three will attend the fifth edition of the World Arabian Horse Conference London 2014,” he said.
The event was organized by the Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club under the directives of Sheikh Mansoor bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs as part of the Sheikh Mansoor bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival.
