Ostend, Belgium 31 July 2017 ~ Al Hayyem emerged the winner of a pretty evenly pitched turf battle at the Hippodrome Wellington in Ostend, Belgium, the host of the latest edition of the President of the UAE Cup Group III PA, on Monday, 31 July 2017.
Racing side by side it was difficult to see which horse would emerge the winner in the 1600m race between Amer sons AL Hayyem (#6) owned by Al Shaqab Racing and trained by Alban de Mieulle, and Djelamer (#3), belonging to Qartar’s Al Attiyah Khalifa and trained by Thomas Fourcy. After racing nose to nose and stride for stride like twin grey engines, at the line it was #6 under Jean-Baptiste Hamel by a head.
Third in for the €30,000 prize money was Thabit, owned by Yas Racing with fourth Ateez belonging to Qatar owner, Mohammed AL Attiyah, with both horses being trained in France.
