On the 24th day of April Al Shahania kept up the heat at the Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club as Al Atique (Amer x Somra) under jockey Alberto Sanna showed his heels to top season challengers. Trained by Julian Smart, the 5-yr/old won the Pure Arabian Conditions race in the time of 02:11.93 seconds for the 2000m contest over Al Basthoon in second place ahead of Thawi. Other placings in the field of 15 – La Hoor (came 6th), Majd Al Uraiq (7), Vetlana De Faust (8).
Smart had begun the day with a win by 5-yr/old Harrir (Amer x Al Shahania Aseala) with Marco Monteriso astride in the Pure Arabian Graduation Plate, a thrilling contest over stable mate Al Maj’Hoor by a head. AJS Faleh and Hassiba completed 3, 4.

Mishal Bin Ali Al Attiya owned Al Hareth showed he was in form with a pillar to post win in the Umm Bab Cup. Out of the gate jockey Declan Cannon took Al Hareth to the front and called the shots to his nine rivals. Once into thehome turn, Al Hareth sped away winning by by six lengths from Footprintinthesand and Al Mayeda (3).
Sheail Bin Khalifa Al Kuwari’s Irish import Fast scored a fluent victory in the Thoroughbred Handicap for horses rated 65 to 85. Trained by Jassim Ghazali, J.P.Guilliambert rode the filly to the lead inside the final furlong and stretched away to win in fine fashion.
Abdulareda Abbas trained Nile Knight was an impressive winner of the Thoroughbred Handicap for horses rated 55 to 75 under Marco Monteriso over Rising Dawn and Statesmanship.
Zohair Moghsen trained Archers Prize scored a convincing victory in the Graduation Plate in the hands of Marvin Suerland. With about 200 metres left from home, Archers Prize took charge and kicked on well till the finish over Free Spin.
In another fine ride the Ghazali trained Morning Post recorded his first career win with an emphatic victory in the Local Thoroughbred Maiden Plate under Yanis Aouabed over stable mate Lady Chantilly .
In the opening event of the day, Ghazali trained Talla under jockey Yanis Aouabed shed her maiden status with a comfortable victory over Venus (2) and Gaza VI (3).
Doha racing season ends on May 1.
