9 April 2022, Doha, Qatar ~ The Alban De Mieulle-trained Abbes (T M Fred Texas x Raqiya) from Umm Qarn grabbed  Gold in the Title Race at the Qatar Racing & Equestrian Club’s (QREC) 47th Race Meeting on 7 April 2022, securing the Qatar Gold Sword at the Al Rayyan Racecourse.

The five-year-old faced tough opposition in the 2000m race battling Mwarid under Soufiane Saadi, but guided by Ronan Thomas, sluiced neatly ahead at the wire. The win time was 02:10:83 for the race with a total purse of $250,000.

Trainer De Mieulle picked off the first three places with Mwarid in second and Jabalah in third under Carlos Henrique.
