The Dolby Theatre Welcomes ARC Darley Awards and HH Sheikha Fatima Awards in Hollywood

The Arabian Racing Cup Darley Awards, the dream of Dr. Sam Harrison, has become the benchmark of Arabian racing worldwide, honoring the highest achievers in Arabian Horse Racing for the previous year.

April 4, 2014, Hollywood, California ~ Writing to you from Hollywood, where the 27th Annual Darley Awards sponsored by the HH Sheikh Mansoor bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival, joined by the 3rd Annual HH Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak Darley Arabian Awards will be held at the iconic Dolby Theatre in Hollywood on the evening of Friday, April 4.

AWARDS CATEGORIES

The Arabian Racing Cup Darley Awards, the dream of Dr. Sam Harrison, has become the benchmark of Arabian racing worldwide, honoring the highest achievers in Arabian Horse Racing for the previous year. The 11 categories of for honors in the US Darley Awards are: 

Three Year Old Colts/Geldings, Three Year Old Fillies, Four year Old Colt/Gelding, Four Year Old Fillies, Older Horse, Older Mare, Owner, Breeder, Trainer, Jockey, and Horse of the Year. 

There are five nominations in each category as selected by the members of the Arabian Cup Stewards. These nominations were voted on by the USA Darley Voting Academy.

Now for the 3rd year the US Darley Awards is joined by the HH Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak Darley Arabian Awards, which have expanded another 11 categories of awards to international ladies as nominated. The categories are:

Breeder, Owner, Jockey, Trainer, Older Mare, Three Year Old Filly, Four Year Old Filly, Fotographer, Journalist, TV Presenter, and Life Time Achievement. 

Three candidates have been selected from the nominations for each category, and were voted on by the 16 judges for the awards. The winner will be selected from these.

According to Lara Sawaya, Director HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival Chairman of Ladies Racing Committee (IFAHR), “The staging of the Darley Awards and the International Darley Awards at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood is a new challenge for the Festival and the promotions of the participant’s achievements in Festival events around the world.

CROWNING SUCCESS

“The success of the Festival is underlined with its continuity and promotion of the Arabian horse worldwide. The staging of the HH Sheikha Fatima Awards in Hollywood will introduce the importance of the Festival to the world,” Sawaya continued.

“The ceremony will begin at 7.30pm (LA time) with all guests taking a walk along the hallowed Red Carpet before passing into the Theatre. 

The prize-presentation ceremony will be attended by Dr Wadoda Badran, Director-General of the Arab Women’s Organization; HE Abdulla Al Subosi, General Consulate of the UAE Embassy in Los Angeles; Sami Jassim al Boenain, Chairman of the International Federation for Arabian Horse Racing Authorities (IFAHR); Lara Sawaya, Director HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival Chairman of Ladies Racing Committee (IFAHR); Ali Mosa Al Khamiri, Director of Dubai Equestrian Club; Arabian Racing Cup Chief Steward, Denise Gault; the Festival’s sponsors, supporters, Arabian horse breeders, owners, jockeys, media and enthusiasts from around the globe.  

HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the vision of the Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival, said: “On the eve of the 27th edition of the Darley Awards, we recognize that it has been a journey of tremendous progress for the purebred Arabian horse as a flat-racing star. Since 2009 the HH Sheikh Mansoor bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival has grown from a humble beginning, and today is recognized as having made significant achievements, breaking new ground in promoting the Arabian race horse.”

Denise Gault, Arabian Racing Cup Chief Steward welcomed the Awards to Hollywood and said: “The partnership with the festival is a great honor for the Awards and I would like to thank HH Sheikh Mansoor bin Zayed Al Nahyan and HH Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak for their support of Arabian horses worldwide which has had such a positive impact in restoring the value of this noble creature.”

This black tie event is the Oscars of the Arabian racing world. How fitting that it is held in the home of the US Oscars’ presentation.
