March 25, 2014, Doha ~ Hassan Ali Hassan Al Matwi’s Majd Al Uraiq (Majd Al Arab x Mezooh) was a runaway winner of the Al Ghashamiah Cup, a Local Bred Pure Arabian race run over 1,850 metres at the Qatar Equestrian and Racing Club March 25. Jockey O’Shea completed a double while steering the Matwi’s trainee to a comprehensive victory which saw Haashed and Masnoon finishing second and third respectively.

Alban de Mieulle saddled Haifaa (Amer x Djelmil) with Marvin Suerland up and and Julian Smart schooled  Taraf fought a grueling battle before the former prevailed by a head in the Al Husayn Cup for Pure Arabians. Al Sabeg and Angella Treize were the other two runners in the fray that finished a faraway third and fourth.

In another keen tussle for supremacy, Smart trained Aden (Burning Sands  x Mayada) kept aside the challenge of Umm Qarn’s Aseel and prevailed by a neck to win by a beck in the Al Zwair Cup for Pure Arabians.

Jassim Al Ghazali City Zen came good under the riding of the talented Harry Bentley in the Al Shamal Cup for Thoroughbreds. City Zen finished two and a half lengths ahead of Charlie’s Wish and Gold Top.

Zohair Mogsen trained Peter Mac was a resounding winner of the Bu Samra Cup for Thoroughbreds, and Mohammed Abdullah Abdulmalik owned Footprintinthesand recorded an emphatic victory in the Al Marronah Cup, a Local Thoroughbred run over a mile.

Mohammed Khalid trained Walfa (Marvin Suerland up) clinched the Thoroughbred Conditions for Fillies and Mares in a thrilling contest over Uleavemebreathless.
