July 19th, 2013, Ibos, France ~ Press release
In a week’s time, on July 27, the World’s best Young Riders and Juniors, aged 14 to 21, will compete in the Ibos CEIYJ**** 120 (France) during the World Endurance Championship. Definitive entries closed on 15th July: 28 nations from the five continents are registered; 91 pairs will try to become the World Individual Champion; 19 nations have the obligatory three or more riders needed to compete for the Team World title.
The defending champions in force!
Uruguay’s Oriana Ricca will be competing again in the World Endurance Championship for Young Riders and Juniors. She was a member of the World champion team and ranked third individually at the last championship in Abu Dhabi (UAE). Australia’s Alexandra Toft, ranked third in 2011 (team ranking), will also take part in the competition.
Argentina’s Manuela Basombrio, fourth in Abu Dhabi, who came to Ibos in April to try out the tracks, will be there too! The French team, second in Abu Dhabi and current European champion will be composed of five 16 to 20 year-old riders. The French chef d’équipe seems to have preferred maturity to lighter weights!
The Ibos-Tarbes World Championship will host the European Champion, Italy’s Mara Feola. She will be accompanied by one of her previous teammates, with whom she was ranked second (behind France) at the 2012 continental championship in Mont-le-Soie (Belgium), Luca Zappettini, riding the horse that had led him and the team onto the podium.
