Eight races were on tap for the June 21 reunion in Morocco, with six of them slated for Pure-bred Arabian runners.
Results:
Race 1: Prix King Mambo for 3 years, 1,900m, Prize money 80,000 Dh – $9,400
In a field of 9 horses, Sindary (Sinndar x Fancy Lady) was the winner ridden by Gerard Rivases for the Royal Stables (Haras Royal Les Sablons) in a time of 2:03 with Brandy 2nd by a length +, Black Boy 3rd.
Race 2: The Prix Hay Riad – 4 years+ Anglo-Arabe at least 50% 1,900m, Prize money 50,000 Dh – $6,000
The seven horses found Ferrari (Rayhan (Arabian) x Petunia) zooming in for first in the time of 2:13 under jockey, Said Madihi. Ferrari is owned by Mohammed Debbab. 2nd was Moha (Digital Blues x Farah) under jockey Ahmed Lakjal and 3rd was Ibn Mowatina (Lemir De Carrere x Mouwatin).
Race 3: The third race was the Arabian Derby for 3 yrs females 1700m, Prize Money 100,000 Dh – $11,800
In a field of 8, Nour Hadya (Nourthabet x Win and See) ran supreme under jockey Said Madihi in the time of 2:07. Nour Hadya is trained by Gerard Serge and owned by Hertitiers Hakam Zakaria. The group also picked up third with El Hambra (Nourthabet x Cordoba) under jockey Jaouad Khayate, giving trainer, Serge, a double.
Second in by 2 1/2 lengths was Maysan Maamora (Moneybox Al Maury x Stix) under Jeremy Crocquevielle, trained by Jean De Roualle for Jalobey Racing.
Race 4: The Anglo Arab Derby for 3 yrs +, 1700m, Prize money 80,000 Dhs – $9,400
The entries were all out of French race bred sire, Tornado De Syrah (Djourman x Pom de Berlais by Manganate).
Winner by 5 lengths was Star L’Atlas (Tornado De Syrah x Baydawi) under jockey Abdellah Elkandoussi for trainer Bendia El Hassane, and owned by Daissaoui Kamal.
Race 5: The Prix Du Bureau Permanent was an Open race 4 years + 2400m, Prize Money 240,000 Dh – $28, 230
Won by Revered Citizen (Proud Citizen x Well Reve) under Thami Zergane for Dr. Azeddine Sedrati and trainer Jean Claude Pecout. Diablito came in second for Jalobey racing and 3rd was Nauru for Kamal Daissaoui.
Race 6: The Grand Prix De La Sorec – 4 years +Pur Sang Arabian 2,100 m, Prize Money 500,000 Dhs- $59,000
This premier race on the card was won by Zoubeyri (Technicolor Lover x El Ojeyl) for the Royal Stables Les Sablons under jockey Gerard Rivases for trainer Joel Seyssel in the time of 2:12.
Jalobey Racing’s, Royal Storm ridden by Jaouad Khayate came 2nd while they doubled down on third with Billabong ridden by Jeremy Crocquevielle.
Race 7: Prix Ocean , an Open race for 4 year olds, this 2100m course for horses who have won 3 races.
Magic Mus (Tiger Hill x Maho) was the winner for owners Tarik Driss/Mohamed Algarch.
Race 8: Prix Alia for Pur Sang Arabians that have not reached 120,000 Dhs winnings- 1400m ,Prize money 50,000 Dhs – $6,000
A field of 15 vying for the 50,000 Dhs, a race primarily shared with National owners.
Keltouma Mus (Mantiki x Aminette) under Abdellatif Safir took the winner’s share, while Cebta (Erraad x Melilia) was 2nd and Bahar (Hichame Al Mels x Dina) came third.
