June 24, 2013, Doha ~ The Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club announced today that as part of the Qatar Racing & Equestrian Club’s (QREC) strategy to promote and enhance pure Arabian racing overseas, the ongoing series of QREC sponsored Arabian races continues in Europe. The coming event is the Coupe de France des Pur-Sang Arabes for three-year-old Arabians (Gr 1) is scheduled to be staged at Chantilly, France on 30 June 2013.
Hassan Al-Matwi owned and schooled Al Nakhsh and Majd Al Uraiq will carry Qatar’s hopes in the 1600m race in Chantilly. The Coupe de France des Pur-Sang Arabes is the first of the series of seven races that QREC is sponsoring in France from June to October this year. The series will culminate in the running of the Qatar Arabian World Cup which will be featured on the Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe Day, which is also QREC-sponsored, at the Longchamp racecourse in Paris on Sunday, 6 October 2013.
Six runners have been entered for Coupe de France des Pur-Sang Arabes. In addition to Al Nakhsh (Dormane x Kerina) and Majd Al Uraiq (Majd Al Arab x Mezooh), the list of contenders for the Euros 50,000 Contest includes HH Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan’s Abu Alabyad (Akbar x Ortie by Djouran); HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan’s Hady (Saklawi Jadrane x Fazzaha); Mathieu De Watrigant’s Menjani (Madjani x Mendra by Sousse); and Famille Niarchos’ Major (Dormane x Briar by Kesberoy).
