HH Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak Ladies World Championship (IFAHR) returns to Newbury

drawMHF_0286 (1)May 16, 2013 -Press Release, London ~ Top Norwegian lady amateur jockey Veronika Aske will partner Al Kashif to launch her claim from stall three in the fifth round of the 2013 HH Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak Ladies World Championship at Newbury Racecourse, UK, on Saturday. Aske won the inaugural event at Newbury last year and she will join a full field of 12 lady riders from around the globe in the prestigious Purebred Arabians series for horses rated 50-80.

Lara Sawaya, director HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival, head of International Federation of Arabian Horse Racing Authorities (IFAHR) Ladies Racing, conveyed the greetings of HH Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Supreme Chairperson of the Family Development Foundation, Chairperson of UAE Women’s Federation, Mother of UAE, and expressed her pleasure to see the Arabian races in UK improving over time.

Speaking to newsmen during the official draw ceremony at the Royal Garden Hotel here on Thursday, Sawaya said, “We are delighted to have agreements with the Racing Post to see the colours of all Arabian horses’ owners appearing in the international leading racing newspaper. This is in addition to have RUK TV and Abu Dhabi Sports Channel streamlining Arabian races live on air,” she said.

“This year, a field of 14 jockeys will make the lineup for the final event in Abu Dhabi, the capital of ladies races during the period from November 6 to 11, which coincides with the inaugural edition of the HH Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak EARS (European Association Racing Schools) Conference on Education and Training. The field will include the 11 winners in the series plus three riders to be named by the festival,” she confirmed.

“The second edition of the HH Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak EARS Apprentice Jockeys Race and the Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Cup will also be staged on the same night,” she added.

“The jockey clubs from which the lady riders come will also be remunerated with Euro 50.000 in prize-money through a separate competition for the highest scoring participants to look after their lady jockeys,” she said.

“I’m further delighted to announce that the fifth World Arabian Horse Racing Conference will be held in London with 400 speakers gathering at the Royal Garden Hotel to address the various issues pertinent to the sport.

Saway added: “In addition to the topics of training, veterinary, nutrition and other vital issues, the upcoming fourth edition of the conference in Toulouse will be associated for the first time with speakers from the newly set up court of law to handle the legal aspect of the racing pattern conditions.”

“Sheikh Zayed Cup (Listed) series will also be staged from next year for the first time at Newbury alongside the HH Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak Ladies World Championship,” she added.
