A day of competition leading up to the world’s greatest race

Sunday September 15, 2024 is an eagerly awaited date in the equestrian calendar, as it represents the final stage before the legendary challenge, the Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe, the world’s greatest race, scheduled for Sunday October 6, 2024.

This top-level sporting competition that takes place at the ParisLongchamp racecourse attracts the best French and international horses. The card on Sunday, 15 September carries three Group 1 races (the highest level of competition), which are of particular interest as they represent the final opportunity to prepare horses for the Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe. All three of them are run over 2,400m, which is the same distance as the famous Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe:

The Qatar Prix Vermeille
The Qatar Prix Niel
The Qatar Prix Foy.
The Qatar Arc Trials horses have to show that they are in top form and that they deserve to be at the start of the Arc on the first weekend in October.

This race meeting therefore often offers the opportunity to see some of the world’s best horses just a few weeks before they return to the racecourse to line up in the legendary Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe. What’s more, at this level of competition, these horses are partnered by the most talented jockeys.
